Where To Stay

The BayRails hotel is the Hilton Newark/Fremont in Newark, Ca. (www.bayareahilton.com). The hotel, at 39900 Balentine Drive, Newark, Ca., is convenient to the Stevenson Blvd. exit on the I-880 freeway, 15 miles north of downtown San Jose and 35 miles south of San Francisco.

For those flying into the area the most convenient airports are: Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International (SJC, 12 miles from the hotel); Oakland International (OAK, 20 miles); and San Francisco International (SFO, 36 miles). Commercial vans service these airports and the hotel. Information is available on the airport web sites: SJC, OAK, SFO or from airport information desks.

For those traveling by rail, Amtrak's California Zephyr (#5 & 6) serves Oakland/Emeryville, and Amtrak's Coast Starlight (#11 or 14) serves San Jose and Oakland/Emeryville. HERTZ rental cars are available at the hotel.

The BayRails room rate is $109 per night, single or double and includes a maximum of two full buffet breakfasts per room per night. To make reservations call the hotel's Reservation Department at 510-490-8390 or Hilton Reservations at 800-HILTONS and reference "BayRails 2007" to receive the special rate. Please make the reservation by phone and not via the Internet. Also please make your room reservation as soon as possible as the room block is limited and first come first serve. After that block sells out, the rate may be higher.
